What is a life of yoga? As a yoga student I think I made the same mistakes many others probably make and I developed a false since of reality. And really a false since of what yoga and just say the idea of living a life of yoga really means. Was it my thoughts that deceived me or did I deceive myself for believing them?
On the surface it appears yoga is about being very flexible, not mentally but physically and looking good in a sports bra. In class when you look at other yogi's you admire, you picture the life of perfection and somebody that certainly has it all together. You picture a life of peace with no worries or trouble. At least that is what I thought.
I guess that is where thoughts can at times get us into trouble. Yet its really not our thoughts. Its believing them. Our thoughts are a great tool and necessary at times. But not all the time or even most of the time. In my yoga teacher training as I explore the yoga sutras I come across the definition of yoga. According to the yoga sutras of patanjali:
